St. Michael Mediterranean Festival

St. Michael Orthodox Christian Church was founded in 1898, by immigrants from Syria, Lebanon and Greece making it the second Orthodox Church in North America preceded by St. Nicholas Cathedral in Brooklyn, New York.  Their overwhelming sense of community centered on family, faith, and church became the dominant force in their growth as American citizens.

A tornado destroyed the congregation’s first building in 1919 and in 1952 a fire leveled the second structure.  In 1953, the congregation moved to its present building at 690 N. 15th Street in Beaumont, Texas.

Today St. Michael’s serves over 100 families under the leadership of V. Rev. Father Michael Pavez.
